Supreme Is Dropping a Prep-Tastic Collaboration With Lacoste

Supreme x Lacoste

This is not your dad's cable knit.

When it comes to collaborations, Supreme has been pretty generous these days.

The streetwear brand treasured by hype beasts and hype baes is following its mashups with Louis Vuitton and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (yep, NYC's subway system admin) with a prep-tastic collab with Lacoste.

The official collection was revealed Monday morning, featuring pieces that highlight each brand's signatures: a '90s streetwear-inspired oversize track suit comes in classic Supreme red and white hues, while Lacoste's prep shines through a trio of cable-knit V-neck sweaters that are more Carlton Banks than Fresh Prince. The 45-piece collection arrives in stores and online this Thursday. (See the full collection here.)

Though aesthetically the apparel makers couldn't be more different, the one common thread among their customers is the respect for logos, which is why each piece of the collection is stamped with the Lacoste alligator and block letters reading "Supreme." Baseball caps in classic preppy colors, including a range of pastels and primaries, will likely be among the fastest-selling items.

Lacoste, too, has had its fair share of collaborations recently. In 2016, the French fashion house named after tennis giant Rene Lacoste tapped artist Jean-Paul Goude to reimagine the classic alligator emblem as a unicycle-riding reptile, and in 2015 the gator was joined by the Peanuts gang for a Charlie Brown collab. Opening Ceremony, J. Crew and Jonathan Adler have also worked with the brand for various polo tee makeovers.
