Swarovski Toasts Milestone With Naomie Harris, Stunning Views and Female Empowerment
"Give your best and shine and don't hold back," said host Nadja Swarovski on the terrace of the famed Hotel du Cap. "That's such a strong message."
On the legendary terrace of the Hotel du Cap Eden-Roc in Antibes, it's easy to fall into the fantasy of the French Riviera, one in which the worries of the world no longer exist. It can be especially dreamy when said terrace is hosting Moonlight's Oscar-nominated actress Naomie Harris (wearing Delpozo), luxury jewelry by Swarovski and stripes-clad servers pouring perfectly chilled rosé.
Nadja Swarovksi wasn't about to ignore the outside world Wednesday afternoon, no matter how easy it might have been. Instead, the businesswoman and expert of shine had a different message to share for the 30 guests on the terrace, all of whom had gathered for the special occasion — to help Swarovski toast the 10th anniversary of its Atelier Swarovski line, the introduction of its sustainable Atelier Swarovski Fine Jewelry range and the presence of Harris, a "friend of the brand."
Back to the message, which Swarovski delivered with ease: "We are here to support female empowerment," she said, against the backdrop of the sea on a beautifully sunny day with temperatures in the mid-70s. "This was really the motto of my great, great grandfather [Daniel Swarovski] when he founded the company. He wanted every woman to feel that they could wear a diamond. We want women to feel fantastic and we want women to carry their symbolism."
She continued: "As of late, we want jewelry to stand for that strength. As Naomie said earlier, when she looks at the diamond or the sparkling material, it reminds her of the sparkle inside. Give your best and shine and don't hold back. That's such a strong message."
Indeed it is, and Swarovski also had a strong message for her guest of honor. "Naomie truly embodies female empowerment; the gentleness, the kindness, the intelligence and the beauty," she said of the actress, who later attended the Cannes Film Festival's opening night procession in a sherbet-colored Gucci gown paired with Atelier Swarovski jewelry.
The entire look was "given an extra edge of glamour with stunning consciously created Atelier Swarovski jewelry," Harris posted on Instagram. "So proud to be flying the flag for sustainability this year on the Cannes red carpet."
The post continued a conversation that Swarovski herself started at the luncheon at the close of her brief comments. "We worked so hard over the past 20 years to be fully sustainable," she said. "To me that comes back to the values we try to project. The world seems so unpredictable, (so) it's more important as individuals that we step forth with strong values."
Then the hostess encouraged everyone to take a closer look at the Atelier Swarovski Fine Jewelry line featuring Swarovski-created diamonds, emeralds and crystals. "Thank you all for being here," she said. "Enjoy this lunch and this view."
It was nearly impossible not to.
