'Run Uje Run' and 'Charter' won Guldbagge Awards, with Nathan Grossman’s 'I Am Greta,' about the Swedish climate activist, picking up the honor for best documentary.

Separate tales of a woman and a man in the midst of a mid-life crisis were the big winners of the 2021 Guldbagge Awards, Sweden's top film honor.

Henrik-Schyffert's Run Uje Run an autobiographical dramedy starring Swedish comedic musician Uje Brandelius as a man confronted with a diagnosis of Parkinson's disease, took best film as well as best actor and best screenplay for Brandelius.

Run Uje Run premiered at the Göteborg Film Festival last year, where it won the audience award for best Nordic film, as well as the best film honor for international film critics association Fipresci.

Charter, Amanda Kernell's harrowing drama about a divorced woman's impulsive decision regarding her estranged children, also won three Guldbagge awards, including best director, best actress for star Ane Dahl Torp, and best cinematographer for Sophia Olsson. Charter screened at both Göteborg and the 2020 Sundance Film Festival.

Nathan Grossman’s I Am Greta, about Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, picked up the award for best documentary. The film, which premiered in Venice last year, follows Thunberg from her beginnings as a lone pupil holding school strikes for climate activism in Sweden to being named Time's Person of the Year in 2019.

The honor for best international film went to the documentary For Sama, Waad Al-Kateab and Edward Watts' first-person account of the Syrian civil war and the 2012 siege of Aleppo.

Sten Ljunggren, a veteran Swedish character actor famed for roles in film (Border, Together) and TV (Wallander, Rederiet), received the 2021 Guldbagge for lifetime achievement.

The 2021 Guldbagge Awards were handed out at a ceremony in Stockholm on January 25.
