SXSW: Orion Releasing Picks Up 'Fort Tilden,' 2014 Prize Winner
Sarah-Violet Bliss and Charles Rogers' comedy about two slackers will be released in August.
Orion Releasing has acquired U.S. and Latin American distribution rights to Sarah-Violet Bliss and Charles Rogers' Fort Tilden, which was the grand jury prize winner for best narrative film at the 2014 SXSW Film Festival. Orion, MGM's specialty distribution arm, which focuses on multiplatform releases via specialized theatrical runs and VOD, will release the film in August.
Written and directed by Bliss and Rogers, the comedy features Bridey Elliott and Clare McNulty as two slacker Brooklynites who experience a series of mishaps on a journey to the beach. The film was produced by Mollye Asher and Geoff Mansfield and executive producers Ariana Ciri Bernstein and Zach Gerbarg.
Josh Braun from Submarine negotiated the deal on behalf of the filmmakers. Bliss and Rogers are repped by ICM Partners and Mosaic.
