Taiwan's STAR promotes two

Daniel Cheung, Jason Siu move into new roles

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- STAR announced a pair of key personnel moves Thursday, naming former STAR Taiwan GM Daniel Cheung the division's new CEO and moving current GM Jason Siu to a newly created position in Hong Kong.

In his new post, Siu will oversee STAR's Chinese movie channels as well as its growing Chinese film production operations.

Cheung previously served in Taiwan as COO of China Network Systems, a cable joint venture between STAR and the Koos Group. He also led STAR's distribution and marketing activities across Greater China.

"Bringing in someone of Daniel's caliber underscores our commitment to Taiwan and our confidence in the prospects for this market," STAR president Paul Aiello said in a statement.

Siu, who has been with STAR since 2001, will manage STAR Chinese Movies and STAR Chinese Movies 2. He also will oversee Chinese film production projects as part of the recently launched joint venture with Fox STAR Studios.

"As STAR expands its business into filmed entertainment, we'll look to Jason to leverage his core skills in Chinese content production and his in-depth understanding of the movie business," Aiello added.
