Talent lawyer Stein lands at Liner Yankelevitz

Entertainment lawyer Larry Stein has found a new home.

The veteran talent litigator, shopping his services in the wake of partner Marc Dreier's arrest on fraud charges, has joined Los Angeles' Liner Yankelevitz firm, which will be known as Liner Grode Stein Yankelevitz Sunshine Regenstreif & Taylor.

"Larry is a great catch for us," Liner topper Stuart Liner said of Stein, whose clients include David Duchovny, Eva Longoria and Lionsgate.

Stein bolsters an entertainment practice that already includes corporate dealmaker Josh Grode and talent litigator Joe Taylor. Stein will relocate in February to Liner's Westwood offices and bring up to three partners with him, though those lawyers have not been determined. Not joining Stein are longtime partner Robert Kahan and Michael Plonsker, who co-chaired the firm's entertainment practice.

"I wish Larry the best of luck," Plonsker said Thursday. "I and other attorneys from the firm will be announcing where we will be practicing very soon."

The implosion of the West Coast outpost of New York-based Dreier Llp. comes in the wake of Dreier's jailing in December on charges of swindling hedge funds.

The firm's offices in Santa Monica's Water Garden will shut down Jan. 31. (partialdiff)
