Tan takes up film body, MDA posts
EmptySINGAPORE - Kenneth Tan has been appointed director of the Singapore Film Commission and chief operating officer of the Media Development Authority, effective May 2, the MDA announced Wednesday.
Tan, formerly managing director of cinema operator Golden Village, replaces Man Shu Sum, who exits the government body in May to become the chief executive of Mark Burnett’s new U.S.$20 million Asia joint venture, Mark Burnett Productions Asia.
MDA chief executive, Christopher Chia, said that Tan would "help us accelerate the pace of our industry development and promotion efforts regionally and internationally, and help groom our creative talents to make a mark in our budding film-making industry."
Tan left the joint-venture Golden Village in Singapore in January this year as part of the peace agreement between Australia's Village Roadshow and Hong Kong's Golden Harvest Group. (THR, 1/16).
