Tara Flynn Headshot - P 2014

As vp creative affairs, she'll develop new dramas and comedies

Like her studio, Fox 21, Tara Flynn's role is expanding.

The Los Angeles-based executive has been promoted to vice president of creative affairs at Fox 21 Television Studios, a merger of Fox 21 and Fox TV Studios that was announced Dec. 4. In that position, Flynn will be working with writers on the cable-focused studio's roster to develop new projects, both in drama and in comedy, as well as identifying fresh talent and concepts for potential series.

"I met Tara years ago when she was working in production on a pilot I was making," said Fox 21 TV Studios president Bert Salke, to whom Flynn reports. "Right away it was clear to me that she was a star, and she's made each transition in her career seamlessly and with great results. She is a favorite of the talent we work with and truly a master of creative production. This promotion is well deserved."

Since Flynn, an ABC Studios vet, joined Fox 21, she's been a key piece of the team that shepherds Showtime's reinvigorated Homeland, WGN America's Salem, TNT's Legends and just-finished FX stalwart Sons of Anarchy. She also has projects in development with Chernin Entertainment and New Regency, among other production entities.

Flynn will no doubt have her hands full as the newly minted cable powerhouse features a portfolio of 20 cable series and pilots — 10 coming from Fox 21, 10 coming from FTVS, which had been run by David Madden before he was moved over to Fox Broadcasting. Flynn, along with the rest of the team, will be moving off of the lot and into the former FTVS headquarters on Santa Monica Blvd. in the coming months.
