Lily For Target - S 2014

The beach-inspired collection will launch just in time for summer

Summertime fun is arriving early this year, thanks to Target's next designer collab with Lilly Pulitzer.

But it's not just floppy hats and shift dresses that will be hitting the floor on April 19. The "resort chic" 250-piece collection, priced from $25 to $250, includes home accents, travel accessories and beach gear as well.

The brand, whose bright beachy prints have drawn an impressive fan base, created 15 exclusive prints for the collection, some of which have already debuted on the Lilly for Target Instagram.

"The Lilly Pulitzer for Target collection marks a new chapter for our brand," Jane Schoenborn, vp communications at Lilly Pulitzer, said in a statement on Target's retail blog, A Bullseye View. "We're excited to give Lilly fans everywhere, including those who have loved the brand for years and those who will get to know it for the first time through this collaboration, a chance to experience this incredibly chic lifestyle collection."

Pulitzer herself, who died in 2013 at age 81, was a Palm Beach socialite-turned-designer whose preppy prints were initially created to camouflage juice stains while she sold her husband's oranges and grapefruits out of the back of a station wagon. Soon enough, her printed frocks garnered the attention of some of America's most posh, including Jackie Kennedy. Today, the brand has become synonymous with classic American prep and the luxe Palm Beach lifestyle.

"Style isn't about what you wear," Pulitzer told the Associated Press in 2004, "it's about how you live." And we have a feeling we'll be living in the Lilly for Target collection all summer.
