Taylor on board for carnival ride

Rachael Taylor has been set to star in "Splinterheads," a carnival-set comedy written and directed by Brant Sersen.

Taylor will play a carnie con artist who dupes and then forms a relationship with a local twentysomething slacker, played by Chicago Second city veteran Thomas Middleditch. The film will play against the backdrop of performers and showmen.

Darren Goldberg and Chris Marsh will produce via their nascent Atlantic Pictures banner; Anisa Qureshi also will produce. Christopher McDonald and Lea Thompson also star.

The WMA-repped Taylor, whose breakout role came last year in "Transformers," recently starred in the Fox thriller "Shutter."

Sersen directed "Blackballed: The Bobby Dukes Story," a comedy about paintballers that starred Rob Corddry.

Production on "Splinterheads" is set to begin next month. (partialdiff)
