Taylor Swift Raises Nearly $1 Million for Tornado Victims
“It was so wonderful,” she says of a special benefit show she performed.
Taylor Swift helped raise close to $1 million for tornado victims during a special concert Saturday in Nashville.
Swift turned what was to have been the final dress rehearsal for the U.S. leg of her Speak Now tour into a benefit, donating all proceeds from ticket sales and merchandise.
“It was so wonderful,” she told Access Hollywood Sunday at the Billboard Music Awards, where she scored three trophies. “It was almost like playing our first show because were playing for 13,000 people and it’s the whole show the way we would do the last dress rehearsal and I’m just so excited that we got to raise $750,000 dollars for the victims of the tornadoes."
Swift called it a "wonderful night" that she'll "never forget."
Said the singer, "The fact that that many people on last minute’s notice wanted to come out and pay for their tickets and donate that money to them."
