TCA: Blogger Perez Hilton mingling with VH1

It looks like VH1 is getting into business with celebrity blogger Perez Hilton.

The network, whose programming tends to center on pop culture and music, is believed to be ordering six hourlong episodes of a series tentatively titled "What Perez Says," but it's understood that the details about the show are still being work out. Hilton (aka Mario Lavandeira) let the news slip Friday morning during an appearance on ABC's "The View."

Meanwhile, CMT had a lively presentation Friday during the MTV Networks portion of the Television Critics Assn. press tour at the Beverly Hilton.

Several of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders took the stage for a performance to highlight the second season of "Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team," premiering at 8 p.m. Sept. 14.

CMT also spotlighted "Ty Murray's Celebrity Bull Riding Challenge," debuting at 9 p.m. Aug. 10, and said that its Dale Earnhardt feature documentary "Dale" will debut at 8 p.m. Sept. 4.

VH1, which gave the stage to Cheryl Wray and Sandra Denton -- aka rap group Salt-N-Pepa -- the stars of its upcoming "The Salt-N-Pepa Show," said the fourth annual VH1 Hip Hop Honors will air at 10 p.m. Oct. 8.

In addition, the network on July 23 is launching "The Score," an online search to find an undiscovered hip-hop producer who will win the opportunity to create and produce the official score of the awards show.

After the session, Travel Channel served lunch to the TCA attendees that included side dishes of flavored crickets and worms in a nod to its series "Bizarre Foods With Andrew Zimmern," whose host also was on hand.
