TCA picks: 'Heroes,' 'Lights'


NBC walked away with four key trophies at the TCA Awards on Saturday, including outstanding program of the year honors going to its freshman hit "Heroes."

Another NBC rookie, "Friday Night Lights," took home outstanding new program, while "The Office" grabbed outstanding achievement in comedy for the second consecutive year. Alec Baldwin ("30 Rock") won the peacock's fourth trophy for individual achievement in comedy.

"The Sopranos" also had a strong showing at the TCA Awards, which was held by the Television Critics Assn. at the Beverly Hilton. The HBO series was awarded outstanding achievement in drama and the Heritage Awards, which salutes long-running programs with "a lasting cultural or social impact."

Another multiple winner was Discovery Networks' "Planet Earth," which nabbed outstanding achievement in news and information and outstanding achievement in movies, miniseries and specials.

Among the other individual winners were "Dexter" star Michael C. Hall for achievement in drama and Mary Tyler Moore, honored for career achievement.
