Legendary releases

Legend Films has licensed 32 titles from Paramount for exclusive distribution on DVD. The films, never before available on disc, include the comedy "Almost an Angel," "King of Gypsies" and the horror film "The Skull." The first wave hits June 3, with a second rollout slated for July 1.

Par loves the '80s

Paramount is launching a branded line of DVDs titled "I Love the '80s," which kicks off with 40 titles Aug. 5. Among the nostalgic favorites slated for the initial release are "Pretty in Pink," "Top Gun" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." Each DVD will come with a bonus CD of four 1980s songs: Erasure's "Chains of Love," a-ha's "Take on Me," Echo & the Bunnymen's "Lips Like Sugar" and "Need You Tonight," from INXS.

Extra hits for '21'

The Blu-ray Disc version of the theatrical hit "21" will come with a virtual blackjack game not found on the standard DVD. Sony will release the Las Vegas casino thriller, which grossed $121.9 million at the worldwide boxoffice, on July 22. The DVD and the Blu-ray version will feature a making-of documentary, a featurette on blackjack and card counting and an audio commentary.
