The Israeli spy thriller has just been renewed for a second season on Apple TV+.

Tehran co-producer Julien Leroux has launched Paper Entertainment, a London-based TV producer and financier.

Paper Entertainment is aboard Tehran, the Israeli spy thriller, on the heels of the series being renewed by AppleTV+ for a second season. Leroux, most recently senior vp of global scripted co-productions at Cineflix Media, was an executive producer on the first season of Tehran, the Apple streamer's first non-English language show to earn a pickup.

Paper Entertainment has other projects in development to be announced shortly, the company says. "In the past 15 years I have had the immense privilege to work with some of the best international producers, writers, directors and commissioners. Working with established talents as well as diverse new voices wherever they are coming from in the world has always been key for me," Leroux added in a statement.

Earlier, Leroux developed projects with producers including Clerkenwell Films, Broadway Video, Hera Pictures and Bryncoed Productions. Prior to joining Cineflix in 2018, he was executive vp of content development and sales at the UK arm of France’s Newen Group (TF1 Group), the company behind Versailles, Osmosis, Spiral, Ouro and Witnesses.

Tehran stars Niv Sultan as a Mossad agent who goes on a deep undercover assignment in the Iranian capital, placing her and everyone around her in grave danger. Shaun Toub, Navid Negahban, Shervin Alenabi, Liraz Charhi and Menashe Noy also star.

Apple co-produces Tehran with Israeli network Kan 11, which will continue to air it while Apple streams the series globally.
