Telespan taps Angulo for commercial post

MADRID -- Maria Angulo has been appointed commercial director of Spanish production house Telespan 2000, the Madrid-based company announced Thursday.

In her new position, she will handle the commercialization of the company's film, television and new technology properties as part of a diversification strategy initiated by the producer.

Angulo comes to the post from the Sogecable group, where she worked as the head of acquisitions for distribution branch Sogepaq and handled production responsibilities within the Sogecine label. Since 2002, she has bought Spanish and independent cinema for Sogecable's pay channel Canal Plus.

Telespan belongs to the Avanzit group, which recently acquired film distributor Manga Films and distributor-producer Notro Films. Avanzit has said it plans to spin off its media holding Cesca later this year.
