MORELIA, Mexico -- Mexican media giant Televisa has signed a five-year deal with Brazilian broadcaster Record to produce Portuguese-language telenovelas and series.

Televisa's pact with Record, Brazil's No. 2 network, is the second such announcement this week coming from Televisa. On Tuesday, Televisa said it inked a production and distribution pact with two of Argentina's top producers.

The first productions slated include a Brazilian version of Televisa's hit teen series "Rebelde" and a local adaptation of the Mexican telenovela "Las Tontas no van al Cielo."

Televisa, the world's top producer of Spanish-language content, has been stepping up its international presence lately with co-production pacts in Latin America, China and France.
