Televisa USA Adapting Murder Mystery Series 'Gran Hotel'

The English-language thriller is set in 1950s Cuba.

Televisa USA and production partner Lantica Media are developing an English-language version of the popular Spanish series Gran Hotel, with Emmy-winning producer Stephen Kronish (24, Kennedys) adapting the script, Televisa USA announced in a statement Friday.

The series, which centers on a young man investigating the disappearance of his sister in Havana's Gran Hotel in pre-Castro Cuba, is being shot at Lantica's Pinewood Dominican Republic Studios.

Gran Hotel, a Beta Film format, was a huge hit in Spain and sold to broadcasters in France, the U.K. and Russia.

Televisa USA, which has co-produced ABC Family's Chasing Life and Lifetime's Devious Maids, will be shopping the new series to global markets at MIPCOM in several weeks.
