'Memory Eclipse' is being produced by Fox's Cora Yim, famed 'Infernal Affairs' producer John Chong and Taiwan's Winday Culture.

Fox Networks Group Asia is producing an anthology miniseries based on the music of legendary Taiwanese singer Teresa Teng.

The five-part series, Memory Eclipse, is the brainchild of Cora Yim, Fox svp and head of Chinese entertainment, and will be produced by veteran producer John Chong, who counts the Infernal Affairs trilogy among his over 100 credits. The series will be made in collaboration with Taiwan-based film production company Winday Culture, whose founder, Charles Sun, will serve as director.

The series will feature a different cast and story based on one of Teng's songs in each episode, set in the past, present, and future. It marks the first anthology series themed around Chinese-language pop music. Filming will take place in Taiwan and Thailand, where Teng died while on holiday in Chiang Mai in 1995.

Born in Taiwan in 1953, Teng was well known all over the Chinese-speaking world. At the height of her fame in the 1970s and 1980s, she conquered charts not only in Chinese communities worldwide but also in Japan and Indonesia, releasing hit albums in Japanese. Her popularity crossed not just geographical and language divides but also political ones; her songs were a staple in Mainland Chinese households in the 1970s, when they were officially banned in the country. Her celebrity did not dim even after her death at the age of 42. Holograms of her performing were showcased in a concert by Taiwanese singer Jay Chou in 2013; her own headlining holographic concert debuted in Hangzhou, China, this year.

Memory Eclipse, scheduled for release in 2019, will star Kaiser Chuang (award-winning actor from Maverick), Esther Liu (Thirty Something, Falling), J.C. Lin (The Day to Choose), Nikki Hsieh (Honey PuPu), Alan Kuo (The Rooftop) and Teresa Daley (Transformers: Age of Extinction).

Fox Networks Group Asia unveiled its premium Chinese-language miniseries initiative in 2017, launching Trading Floor, set in the Hong Kong financial world and produced by and starring Hong Kong superstar Andy Lau, and crime thriller Stained, starring award winners Kara Wai and Anthony Wong.
