They're on the map for 'Atlas'

Top showrunning team aboard for promising ABC fantasy pilot

"The Riches" executive producers/showrunners Nicole Yorkin and Dawn Prestwich have joined ABC's fantasy pilot "Captain Cook's Extraordinary Atlas."

Yorkin and Prestwich will serve as consulting producers on the pilot, working alongside executive producers Tom Wheeler, who penned the script, and Emmy winner Thomas Schlamme, who is directing it.

If the project goes to series, Yorkin and Prestwich will serve as executive producers/ showrunners.

Described as "Harry Potter" meets "Pan's Labyrinth," "Atlas" centers on a young girl (Jodelle Ferland) who finds a magical atlas that reveals a secret world underneath our own.

Co-starring in the pilot are Janel Moloney and Patrick Breen.

The hiring of Yorkin and Prestwich as potential showrunners further boosts the chances of a series pickup for "Atlas," which already look bright given Schlamme's track record. The vast majority of pilots he has directed in the past 15 years — including "The West Wing," "Sports Night," "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," "Spin City," "Invasion" and "Jack & Bobby" — have gone to series.

In addition to "Riches," which recently completed a two- season run on FX, Yorkin and Prestwich have worked on "Carnivale," "Brotherhood" and "Judging Amy."

The duo, who won a WGA Award for their CBS drama "The Education of Max Bickford," are repped by WMA. (partialdiff)
