Thierry Potok in at troubled VIP fund

Replaces Peter H. Riedel

BERLIN -- Former Studio Babelsberg head Thierry Potok has taken over at troubled German film fund VIP, replacing Peter H. Riedel and becoming the third VIP boss in eight months.

Unlike previous VIP managers, Riedel is leaving of his own accord and not being forced out because of problems with the law (as did VIP founder Andreas Schmid) or with VIP shareholders (as did Riedel's predecessor Dirk Specht).

VIP has co-financed about 50 German and international films, but the fund has been mired in legal and financial troubles for three years now.
