THR to deliver mobile grosses

Figures will be texted to cell phones and other devices

The Hollywood Reporter will deliver first-to-market weekend boxoffice estimates directly to cell phones and other mobile devices via a mobile alert starting Sunday. Subscribers will be the first to get the official studio boxoffice grosses tallies provided by The Hollywood Reporter's sister service, Nielsen EDI. THR is owned by Nielsen Business Media, a part of the Nielsen Co.

"These are extremely exciting times for the THR brand, and we are committed to taking a bold leadership role in implementing the opportunities that digital provides to our readers and advertisers," THR publisher Eric Mika said. "THR recognizes the demand from customers to provide accurate and actionable information on multiple platforms. We are listening to the marketplace and are committed to embracing the information technology change that is occurring globally."

Weekend grosses will be pushed via SMS text alert, featuring the top five movie results. The data also will be sent to THR subscribers via e-mail newsletter, featuring the weekend's top 10 performers.

HOW TO SUBSCRIBE: Users can sign up for the alert by texting "THR" to 847269 (or THRBOX) and will receive the tallies each Sunday morning.

The boxoffice service is the latest in a series of digital initiatives that have broadened THR's reach and impact domestically and internationally. THR recently forged a strategic alliance with Yahoo Entertainment in which Yahoo Movies features THR content on its site, while THR promotes Yahoo Movies trailer content and data in its digital and print editions and on
