THR taps Cunningham for Premier

Todd Cunningham has been named national editor of The Hollywood Reporter: Premier Edition, the new day-and-date edition for New York and other East Coast markets that launches Nov. 2.

In the newly created position, Cunningham will oversee the production of the national edition of the paper, focusing on news and analysis relevant to The Reporter's growing East Coast readership and international audiences. He takes up his new role Monday.

"Having known Todd for 10 years and having worked with him for five of those, I know he brings a wealth of experience in newsroom management, boasts excellent editing and business skills, and works tirelessly with reporters to get the best possible coverage of the business," said Elizabeth Guider, editor of The Reporter. "I know that our senior-management ranks as well as our new day-and-date publication on the East Coast will be enhanced and strengthened by his involvement."

Cunningham, who will report to Guider and be based in Los Angeles, joins The Reporter from the Los Angeles Business Journal, where he served as assistant managing editor. Before joining the Journal in December 2005, he served as managing editor of Hispanic Business Magazine.

Cunningham also spent seven years at Variety, where he helped launch that trade paper's Gotham Edition as managing editor.

"We are delighted to welcome Todd, whose appointment reflects Elizabeth's continued success in transforming The Reporter's newsroom to best serve our global readership and media partners, including Reuters," said Eric Mika, senior vp and publishing director of The Reporter. "As we prepare to launch our national day-and-date edition, Todd will be a strong asset to our continued expansion and strategic growth."

Said Cunningham: "I'm thrilled to be joining the highly talented team at The Reporter and especially excited to help launch this historic national expansion of the paper. I'm confident that the Premier Edition will help establish The Hollywood Reporter as the leading national source of the most timely news, relevant analysis and actionable data covering all aspects of the global entertainment business."

The Premier Edition will be available in key East Coast cities in the early morning each weekday with an expanded focus on news, analysis and data covering key segments of the entertainment business in these regions, including Wall Street, Madison Avenue and the film, television, stage and other entertainment production communities. It also will provide breaking news from Hollywood and around the world.
