Three discover D'Works' 'Ruins'
EmptyLaura Ramsey, Jena Malone and Shawn Ashmore have made it to "The Ruins," DreamWorks and Spyglass Entertainment's adaptation of the best-selling Scott B. Smith novel. Red Hour Films' Ben Stiller and Stuart Cornfeld are producing along with Chris Bender.
The three actors join Jonathan Tucker in a thriller about a group of friends whose leisurely Mexican holiday takes a turn for the worse when they accompany a fellow tourist on a remote archaeological dig in the jungle, where something evil lives among the ruins.
Smith wrote the screenplay.
Principal photography begins in late May in Queensland, Australia.
"Ruins" will be the third film on which DreamWorks and Spyglass have partnered. They co-produced "Seabiscuit" with Universal and "Memoirs of a Geisha" with Sony.
Ramsey, repped by CAA, appeared in DreamWorks' "She's the Man" and in "The Covenant" and "Lords of Dogtown."
Malone's recent credits include "Pride & Prejudice" and "Saved!" She is repped by UTA.
Ashmore, best known for his role as Bobby/Iceman in the "X-Men" movies, is repped Gersh, Artistry Entertainment and Barnes Morris Klein.
