Three line up for 'Magnificent Eleven'

Irvine Welsh's project being repped by Stealth at EFM

LONDON -- Sean Bean, Dougray Scott and Robert Vaughn are lining up to star in Scottish cult author Irvine Welsh's "The Magnificent Eleven," an modern-day update of the classic Western "The Magnificent Seven."

Vaughn is the last surviving member of the original cowboy yarn, and backers said Tuesday that he is set to star in Welsh's picture.

Produced by John Adams and production banner Angry Badger Pictures, the update sees the cowboys as a local amateur soccer team while the indians run a nearby Tandoori restaurant, and the bandits are a group of menacing thugs led by a maniac known simply as Blonde Bob.

The project is being repped by sales and finance label Stealth Media Group at the EFM, and Welsh will direct after working on a draft of the script penned by Angry Badger's Pete and John Adams.

Angry Badger Pictures also boasts producers Ron Purdie and Ian Dray in its fold.
