Three pics trigger Corona slate
EmptyVeteran producer Gary Kurtz, whose credits include "Star Wars" and "The Empire Strikes Back," and indie producer Richard Johns have teamed with former City mergers-and-acquisitions exec Rupert Jermyn and Universal Pictures veteran Julian Alcantara to form Corona Pictures.
The London-based shingle has kicked things off by inking a two-picture deal with writer-director Charles Dance ("Ladies in Lavender").
Dance is lined up to direct the noir drama "The Last Hand," a script about the past and present lives of a 1960s gangster's moll. The former actor also is in line to helm "Last Chance Saloon," billed as a country/Western dance spectacular set in the British Midlands and featuring Dolly Parton.
Corona's slate also includes "Obsession," a New York-set psychological thriller written by Rob Green and to be directed by Thaddeus O'Sullivan. (partialdiff)
