Three Titles Nominated in Documentary Category for 23rd European Film Awards

"Armadillo," "Steam of Life," "Nostalgia for the Light" vie for top prize

COLOGNE, Germany -- Danish war documentary Armadillo, Scandinavian sauna confidential Steam of Life and the French/German/Chiliean doc Nostalgia for the Light have been nominated in the European Documentary category for the 23rd European Film Awards.

Janus Metz's Armadillo a front-line report on Danish soldiers fighting in Afghanistan, generated buzz in Cannes and front-page controversy at home.

Steam, Finland's official candidate for the 2011 Oscar race, follows locals as the head into the sauna, to talk of their lives, hopes and dreams.

Nostalgia, directed by Patricio Guzman, is set in Chile's Atacama Desert where astronomers study the cosmos and, nearby a group of women search the sand for the remains of their loved ones, killed and dumped by the Pinochet regime.

The winner will be announced at the 2010 European Film Awards in Talinn, Estonia Dec. 4.
