TIFF: Ray Yeung's 'Front Cover' Goes to Strand Releasing

The film, about a gay Asian American questioning his heritage, will open theatrically in the spring.

Strand Releasing has acquired North American rights to writer/director Ray Yeung’s Front Cover from Fortissimo Films. The film stars Jake Choi as a gay Asian American fashion stylist, questioning his heritage, who strikes up a friendship with a visiting Chinese actor played by James Chen.

The film, which premiered at the Seattle International Film Festival and next screens at the Hong Kong Lesbian and Gay Film Festival, will play the festival circuit before its theatrical release in the spring.

A NewVoice Production, the film was produced by Kaer Vanice and co-produced by Chowee Leow and Stan Guingon.

The deal was negotiated by Fortissimo Films chairman Michael Werner and Strand Releasing co-president Marcus Hu.
