TIFF: Alec Baldwin, Salma Hayek to Star as 'Drunk Parents'
Fred Wolf is directing the Fortitude International and Bron Studios comedy.
Alec Baldwin and Salma Hayek have signed on to star in comedy Drunk Parents, which The House Bunny helmer Fred Wolf will direct.
Wolf and Peter Gaulke wrote the screenplay. Baldwin and Hayek will play the Teagartens, parents who, after dropping their daughter off at college, proceed to get drunk. Their inebriated state leads to to a bad decision, a kidnapping and a serious case of mistaken identity in the Fortitude International and Bron Studios film.
Fortitude’s Robert Ogden Barnum and Bron’s Aaron L. Gilbert will produce, and CW Media Finance’s Jason Cloth, Fortitude’s Nadine de Barros and Daniel Wagner and Brillstein Entertainment’s Jai Khanna will executive produce.
“Alec and Salma are both incredibly charismatic, hilarious talents… paired together with this brilliant writing, audiences are going to love watching these two beautiful people take on all odds in Drunk Parents," said Barnum.
Fortitude is handling foreign rights to the film and is presenting it to buyers at the Toronto International Film Festival. CAA and UTA are co-repping North American rights.
Baldwin was most recently seen in Paramount’s Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation with Tom Cruise and will next be seen in Sony's Concussion with Will Smith. The two-time Emmy winner's upcoming films also include the Warren Beatty project, currently untitled, with Martin Sheen and Annette Bening. He's repped by CAA.
Hayek has two films currently in release: Kahlil Gibran’s animated film The Prophet, which she produced and provided her voice opposite Liam Neeson; and Some Kind of Beautiful with Pierce Brosnan and Jessica Alba. She stars in Septembers of Shiraz, which is playing at TIFF and her other film, Tale of Tales, premieres at Cannes in May. She's repped by CAA, Management 360 and Edelstein, Laird & Sobel.
Along with directing comedy The House Bunny starring Anna Faris, Wolf previous wrote or co-write Tommy Boy, Black Sheep, Joe Dirt and Grown Ups. He's repped by UTA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners. Gaulke has written such comedies as Ice Age 2: The Meltdown and Black Knight.
