'The Art of Crying' director Peter Schonau Fog is adapting Christian Jungersen's best-seller for Zentropa.

Nordic stars Michael Nyqvist (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo), Trine Dyrholm (In a Better World) and Nikolaj Lie Kaas (The Keeper of Lost Causes), have signed on to star in You Disappear, a feature film adaptation of the acclaimed novel by Danish writer Christian Jungersen.

Peter Schonau Fog, whose debut film The Art of Crying premiered in Toronto in 2006, will helm You Disappear for production shingle Zentropa. Louise Vesth of Zentropa is producing.

Kaas will play Frederik, a respected schoolteacher Frederik who is suddenly arrested and charged with embezzling millions. On closer examination, it appears Frederik has a brain tumor which has changed his personality. His wife Mia (Dyrholm) and defense lawyer Bernard (Nyquist) fight to get him acquitted of all charges. Jungersen's novel was published in 2012 and has been translated in multiple languages, selling around the world.

Shooting on You Disappear is set to start Sept. 28. Nordisk Film will handle distribution in Scandinavia and is planning a Feb. 2017 release. TrustNordisk is handling international sales and will introduce the project to buyers at TIFF:

Nygvist, who is repped by ICM Partners, appears alongside Emma Watson and Daniel Bruhl in Florian Gallenberger's Colonia, which has its world premiere in Toronto on Sunday. Kaas appears with Mads Mikkelsen in Men and Chicken from Anders Thomas Jensen, which Drafthouse just picked up for North America and which screens in Toronto on Monday.
