"It's very VMAs, very rock star," says stylist Law Roach.

"The MTV VMAs is the awards show with the most flexibility," says stylist Law Roach. "You can go super glam while other people are super toned down." When it came to Girls Trip star Tiffany Haddish's red carpet look for the MTV Video Music Awards in New York on Monday night, Haddish went the rock star route in a long-sleeved black-and-white Naeem Khan gown with sheer paneling and lattice-like details.

No stranger to an MTV red carpet (she hosted the MTV Movie & TV Awards in June), Haddish finished off the elegant look with Sophia Webster heels and a matching headband.

Haddish has a history of making red-carpet statements, most notably in a white Alexander McQueen gown, which she bought to wear for the Girls Trip premiere, then sported as a host on SNL and later at the 2018 Oscars.  The now infamous look made its final appearance (for now, at least) during her hosting gig this summer.

To present the best hip-hop video award to Nicki Minaj with Night School co-star Kevin Hart, Haddish changed into a hand-embroidered, one-sleeved gown with dual slits by Rami Kadi.

No word on whether either gown will be recycled in the near future.
