Tiger Woods Fined for Spitting During Golf Tournament

Golfer says it was "inconsiderate" and he should "know better."

Tiger Woods has been fined by the European Tour for spitting on the 12th green in the final round of the Dubai Dessert Classic.

"The tournament director, Mike Stewart, has reviewed the incident and feels there has been a breach of the tour code of conduct and consequently Tiger Woods will be fined," the European Tour said in a statement, according to ABC News.
The tour's code of conduct states that when a player becomes a member, he "voluntarily submits himself to standards of behavior and ethical conduct beyond those required of ordinary golfers and members of the public."
Woods apologized for spitting after missing a putt for par. (He ultimately shot a 75 - three over par - for the round and finished the tournament tied for 20th place.)
"The Euro Tour is right — it was inconsiderate to spit like that and I know better," Woods Tweeted. "Just wasn't thinking and want to say I'm sorry."
No word on the amount of the fine.
