Tiger Woods to play Masters next month

Comcast to broadcast tournament in 3D

After a five-month hiatus, Tiger Woods will return to golf to play the Masters Tournament next month.

"The Masters is where I won my first major, and I view this tournament with great respect. After a long and necessary time away from the game, I feel like I'm ready to start my season at Augusta," Woods said in a statement. "The major championships have always been a special focus in my career, and as a professional, I think Augusta is where I need to be, even though it's been a while since I last played."

The event will mark Woods return to the profession after months of tabloid headlines amid allegations the golf star had multiple affairs cheating on his wife Elin Nordegren.

The Masters Tournament starts April 8 and could break all golf ratings records.

Comcast plans to broadcast the tournament in 3D on stand-alone dedicated channel, marking the first major sporting event to be televised using the technology.
