Tim Kring to get Pioneer Prize at MIPTV

International Digital Emmy Awards set for April 12

PARIS -- Tim Kring will be given a "Heroes" welcome when the creator and exec producer of the hit NBC series receives the 2010 Pioneer Prize at the International Digital Emmy Awards on April 12 at MIPTV, organizers Reed MIDEM said Monday.

Kring will also give a keynote address the same day. Kring spent 20 years as a writer and producer for hit TV shows such as "Chicago Hope," "Crossing Jordan" and "Providence" before launching the "Heroes" multiplatform experience "Heroes Evolution" combining mobile formats, games and graphic novels.

Kring is currently developing a new multiplatform narrative with Nokia and a new Web series for NBC.com titled "Nowhere Man."

"Tim Kring is a masterful storyteller and the 'Heroes Evolutions' digital experience is the ultimate showcase for successfully integrating technology and content," International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences president & CEO Bruce Paisner said.

Nominees for the International Digital Emmy Awards will be announced in March and the event will bring together more than 200 entertainment, mobile and internet industry professionals for the invitation-only ceremony to kick off this year's MIPTV market.
