Time Warner pushing TV Everywhere

Detailing Comcast partnership Wednesday

NEW YORK -- Time Warner and Comcast Corp. will unveil Wednesday a partnership to advance TW's TV Everywhere initiative.

TW chairman and CEO Jeff Bewkes and Brian Roberts, chairman and CEO of Comcast, will detail the partnership in a press conference Wednesday morning in New York.

TV Everywhere is based on the idea that consumers must be subscribers of a cable operator or other video distributor to get online access to cable network content.

Cord cutting, in which consumers give up cable service to instead watch TV content online, has remained low even in a recession, but the initiative ties in with efforts by media giants to stop giving all content away for free in the digital space.
