Her co-hosts revealed the news on Thursday morning's show

Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie gave birth to a baby girl, Vale, on Wednesday, her co-hosts announced on Thursday's edition of the NBC morning show.

Matt Lauer and Natalie Morales revealed the news early on Thursday's show, debuting a picture of Guthrie's first child with husband Mike Feldman.

Guthrie told her colleagues that her new daughter "has blue eyes, a little bit of blondish hair and the chubbiest cheeks you've ever seen."

"I think we found heaven in this little hospital room in New York City," she added.

Lauer also revealed that he found out about the baby because he was texting with his co-anchor on Wednesday (Guthrie began her maternity leave on Monday) when Guthrie went silent.

After Lauer sent a text wondering where she went, she sent him a photo of a baby's foot.

Guthrie announced her pregnancy on the show in March, after revealing that she and then-fiance Feldman had tied the knot over the weekend. Guthrie and Feldman informed their wedding guests that they were having a baby at the reception, after the NBC News "Special Report" music played.
