The three-time Oscar nominee will receive a Pioneer of the Year honor at a dinner during the Las Vegas convention.

At this year's CinemaCon, Tom Cruise will receive the Pioneer of the Year award.

The announcement was made Thursday by the The Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation, which holds an annual fundraiser out of CinemCon benefiting for the Pioneers Assistance Fund which provides financial support and services to individuals in the theatrical entertainment community who are encountering an illness, injury or a life-changing event.

The three-time Oscar nominee will receive the award on April 25, 2018, at the Pioneer of the Year dinner, which takes place during the annual convention for the National Association of Theater Owners.

Cruise is currently filming the sixth installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise, which is due out July 27, 2018. He is next set for Paramount's Top Gun sequel, Top Gun: Maverick.

“We are delighted that Tom will be receiving this well-deserved honor,” said Kyle Davies, in-coming president of WRMPPF and resident of domestic distribution at Paramount Pictures. “His contributions to the film industry as both an actor and producer, including his tremendous support of the exhibition community, have made him a true pioneer in his field."
