Tom Hardy Got a "Leo Knows All" Tattoo After Losing a Bet to Leo DiCaprio
There's photographic evidence.
Is there anything juicier than a bet between two objectively handsome movie stars where a tattoo is at stake?
Tom Hardy and Leonardo DiCaprio answered this question for us when the pair made a bet back in 2016 over whether or not Hardy would receive an Oscar nomination for his role in The Revenant, in which he starred opposite DiCaprio. According to an interview with Vanity Fair, Hardy believed it wouldn't happen, while DiCaprio was certain it would. The wager? If DiCaprio was right, he would get a tattoo of Hardy's choice, and vice-versa.
Lo and behold: Hardy received a best supporting actor nod. (DiCaprio, too, picked up the best actor nomination, leading to his first-ever win.)
In his unsubtle way, DiCaprio chose the phrase "Leo Knows All" for Hardy's tattoo, because he may or may not also be 12 years old. Two years later, the tattoo was finally photographed out in the wild. Over the weekend, a San Francisco-based photographer unwittingly captured the piece in an Instagram selfie, which devout Hardy fans devoured.
"He would never get a tattoo if he lost that bet!" said Hardy of DiCaprio in the VF interview. "It was just one-way. I’m covered in shit tattoos anyway, so it doesn’t make any difference to me. If I got a big bold ‘Leo’ right across my thigh or across my face. It’s just that, isn’t it? You bet a tattoo, you lose. That’s what happens.”
Admire the tattoo (and bicep, while you're at it), below.
