Tonia Davis, who most recently served as executive director, production at Disney, is joining Chernin Entertainment as vp of film.

She'll leverage her experience on large-scale feature film production to develop projects at Chernin, reporting to president of film Jenno Topping.

At Walt Disney Pictures, Davis worked on the studio's live-action slate, including Oz: The Great and Powerful, Million Dollar Arm and the upcoming feature films Tomorrowland, Jungle Book and Beauty & The Beast (which was just dated for release in March 2017). She also oversaw the Disney Staff Writing Program at the studio.

Prior to Disney, Davis was executive at the boutique production company, Apparatus, founded by Marc Forster and Brad Simpson. She also worked for producers Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald.

“Tonia is an executive with strong instincts, great taste and versatility. She is a courageous advocate of talent. We are pleased to welcome her to the Chernin Entertainment team,” said Topping.

Chernin's upcoming projects include Spy, the Paul Feig-directed comedy starring Melissa McCarthy, which just premiered at SXSW and is slated for release in May, and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, directed by Tim Burton.
