LONDON -- FremantleMedia chief executive Tony Cohen will tell MIPCOM execs that they will have to rethink the process of production in the current economic and technical climate, delivering the opening MIPCOM keynote address at this year's Riviera-side market, which runs Oct. 5 through 9, organizers said Friday.

Cohen's speech will launch kick-off a strand of conferences and panels dedicated to production, matchmaking opportunities and product screenings.

He is expected to outline his vision for the future of television production, citing experiences with such FremantleMedia shows as "The Bill," "Idols," and "The IT Crowd."

"We are committed to providing a forum for the production community to map out its future," said Laurine Garaude, acting director of television for Reed Midem.

"Having the opportunity to listen to someone with Tony Cohen's international experience is a real bonus."

Cohen has been CEO of RTL-owned FremantleMedia since 2001. He joined the global producer/distributor in 1995 as managing director of the broadcasting division, subsequently running the company's U.S. production operation in Los Angeles for a number of years before moving to London as chief executive.
