Tony Leung named AFA jury president

Actor known for performances in 'The Lover,' 'Double Vision'

Internationally renowned actor Tony Leung has been appointed jury president for the Hong Kong International Film Festival Society's fourth Asian Film Awards.

As jury president, the Hong Kong actor will screen potential film nominees and advise the 13-member jury in the selection and voting process for the major category winners.

"Tony Leung is an inspiration for all of us working in Asian cinema, and we are deeply honored to have him as our jury president this year," says Soo-wei Shaw, executive director of the HKIFFS. "Delivering performances with an impressive range of skill, wit, charm and passion, Tony possesses the qualities we look for in every AFA-nominated film."

Leung is known for performances in Jean-Jacque Arnaud's "The Lover" and the Taiwanese horror film "Double Vision." He has also starred in several popular Chinese movies, including "The Myth," "Everlasting Regret" and "Bodyguards and Assassins."

The AFA presentation ceremony will take place March 22 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
