The disgraced figure skater had been noticeably absent from all previous press appearances up to this point.

Since its September Toronto debut, Tonya Harding has been noticeably absent from premieres and press events surrounding her namesake movie. Finally, the infamous figure skater made an appearance at the Los Angeles premiere of I, Tonya.

At the Tuesday night event in Hollywood, Harding showed up ahead of the screening, which took place at The Egyptian, and posed for photos with Margot Robbie, who plays the disgraced Olympian in the feature. Castmembers Allison Janney and Sebastian Stan, as well as director Craig Gillespie, were also in attendance at the final U.S. premiere on the film's press tour.

The showing of the film was the first time that Harding had watched the movie about her scandal-filled 20s with a full audience. She had previously seen the film when producer Bryan Unkeless, who, having just met Harding, watched the movie with her and her husband.

"There were some things she liked and some things she didn't agree with, but that was to be expected," said the producer.

"People will see a different side of her with what her upbringing was like," says Robbie of the film, which is receiving awards buzz. "She really was an underdog just chasing the American dream."

After the Los Angeles screening, Robbie and Gillespie asked Harding to come up in front of the theater, at which point the audience gave her a standing ovation.

I, Tonya hits theaters on Dec. 8.
