Tonys: Kristin Chenoweth and Alan Cumming to Host
The 2015 Tony Awards will air live on CBS on Sunday, June 7.
Kristin Chenoweth and Alan Cumming will host the 2015 Tony Awards, it was announced on Tuesday.
The news of this year's hosts was confirmed as the 2015 nominees were being unveiled. Chenoweth and Cumming have both won Tony Awards in the past. Chenoweth is also a Tony nominee this year for her role in the revival of On The Twentieth Century, which is also up for best revival of a musical.
The Hollywood Reporter's awards analyst, Scott Feinberg, recently pointed out that hosts who are currently appearing in shows on Broadway have seen their awards prospects increase. When Glenn Close hosted in 1992 and 1995, while appearing in Death and the Maiden and Sunset Boulevard, respectively, she was nominated and won both times. Nathan Lane won the Tony for which he and his Producers co-star Matthew Broderick were nominated when the two of them co-hosted in 2001. And in 2004, Hugh Jackman won a Tony for The Boy from Oz while hosting the show.
Cumming, who also stars in CBS' The Good Wife, recently reprised his Tony-winning role as the emcee in Cabaret.
Musicals An American in Paris and Fun Home topped this year's Tony nominations, with 12 noms each.
The 2015 Tony Awards will air live from Radio City Music Hall on Sunday, June 7 at 8 p.m. ET (tape-delayed on the West Coast) on CBS.
