From Solange and Kristen to Ruth and Rachel, and the one "bizarre-o" dress that made the cut.

The red carpet is open all day and all night in Cannes, offering ample space and opportunity for the other business of the festival, the fashion show. It was a tough ask (so much glam to choose from), but Pret-a-Reporter polled top Hollywood stylists for some of their favorite Cannes looks over the years.

Kate Young

Natalie Portman in Givenchy Couture

"It was one of Riccardo’s early collections [Spring 2008 Couture]," recalls Young. "It's like a bizarre-o dress, and Natalie wore it the year she was on the jury. My son was just born — we did the fitting and I had him in the carrier."

Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn

Rachel McAdams in Marchesa

Rob: "It was a super long time ago, but it was one of the first times you started seeing illusion netting on dresses. Also, Solange [Knowles in 2013]!"

Mariel: "Oh yeah, that was a good one! In Stephane Rolland Couture."

Rob: "Yes, it was amazing."

Tara Swennen

Kristen Stewart in Chanel

"I have to say some of my favorites were this past year with Kristen. The two Chanel looks she wore, specifically the one she closed in, that white with the wings for sleeves essentially was one of my favorite tops that we have chosen in all time, to be honest," says Swennen. "It was a good one!"

Karla Welch

Ruth Negga in Marc Jacobs

"You know what, I have a special affinity for the Cannes Film Festival because that is where Ruth (Negga) and I started (working together) in her handmade, lace Marc Jacobs," admits Welch. "So right now that’s my favorite."
