Topher Grace and Taye Diggs to Star in Musical 'One Shot'
Music video director Isaac Rentz will helm from a script by Gerry De Leon and Greg Lisi
Topher Grace and Taye Diggs are tuning up to star in the musical One Shot.
The film, packaged by Brillstein Entertainment’s Jai Khanna, will be fully financed by Dark Factory Entertainment and AG Studios, and will begin production in December in Mexico City. Music video director Isaac Rentz will helm from a script by Gerry De Leon and Greg Lisi.
The comedy centers on a failed Broadway singer turned production manager (Grace) who, on opening night, must save the production by wrangling his eccentric cast and crew before they cause havoc. Diggs will play the role of Malcolm, a flamboyant actor.
Grace is producing alongside Dark Factory’s Daniel Posada and Jason Tamasco. AG’s Alex Garcia also is producing.
Grace can currently be seen in Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar. He also will appear in the upcoming drama Truth, opposite Robert Redford and Cate Blanchett; the action comedy American Ultra opposite Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg; and Home from producer Jason Blum.
Diggs is no stranger to the musical genre. He appeared in the stage version of Rent and the film version of Chicago. He is currently starring in TNT’s Murder in the First and is finishing up an arc on the CBS drama The Good Wife. He will reprise his role in Universal’s Best Man franchise with The Best Man Wedding, set to be released in 2016.
Mexico-based Dark Factory is in postproduction on Reversal. AG's credits include Refugio, which will mark actor Demian Bichir’s directorial debut; the Paul Schrader-scripted The Jesuit; and Forsaken, starring Gael Garcia Bernal and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, which is helmed by Gravity co-writer Jonas Cuaron.
ICM Partners will co-rep North American rights with Brillstein.
Grace is repped by ICM, Brillstein and Ziffren Brittenham. Diggs is handled by ICM, Management 360 and Franklin Weinrib.
