Indie distributor A71 Entertainment has picked up the Canadian rights to Kyle Thomas' The Valley Below ahead of its Toronto Film Festival world premiere on Sunday.

A71 plans a fall 2015 release for the film with four related narratives set in Alberta's arid Badlands region.

The Valley Below stars Stephen Bogaert, Kris Demeanor, Mikaela Cochrane and Alejandro Rae, and is produced by Thomas, Alexander Carson and Cameron MacGowan of North Country Cinema.

Also Sunday, 108 Media acquired the world sales and North American distribution rights to Peter Lynch’s upcoming murder mystery feature Birdland.

The Lottery actor David Alpay has boarded the Canadian indie potboiler about murder, surveillance footage and big oil.

The distribution deal was brokered by Lynch of Acqua Film, Katarina Gligorijevic of Ultra 8 Pictures and Abhi Rastogi of 108 Media.

Lynch and Gligorijevic are producing Birdland, which is set to shoot in Toronto in February 2015.

Foundry Pictures' Daniel Iron will executive produce.
