Distributors in Germany, France, Spain and the U.K. are hot for Josh Lawson's Australian sex-fetish comedy

European buyers have snatched up sex fetish comedy The Little Death, the directorial debut of Australian filmmaker Josh Lawson.

WeltKino took Germany-speaking rights for the feature, starring Damon Herriman, Bojana Novakovic, Kate Mulvany and Lawson, with Wild Bunch taking France and Spain and Kaleidoscope acquiring the title for the U.K.

Other deals signed by sales group LevelK for The Little Death at the Toronto market include Seven Films in Greece and Joint Entertainment for Taiwan. LevelK said negotiations are ongoing in Toronto for multiple territories.

“Luckily buyers seem to see through the kinky surface to find the depth and quality of the film,” said LevelK’s head of sales Natja Rosner. “Lawson’s humor is universal and the response really shows this.”

The Little Death explores the secret sex lives of five apparently ordinary suburban couples living in Sydney, Australia.

Jamie Hilton, Michael Petroni and Matt Reeder produced the film for See Pictures.

eOne Films is releasing The Little Death in Australia on Sept. 25.
