TORONTO -- Toronto film critics named Quebec director Denis Villeneuve's Incendies the best Canadian film of 2010.

The award for Canada’s official entry in the 2010 best foreign language film category at the upcoming Academy Awards was handed out to Villeneuve on Wednesday night in Toronto by Canadian actor Jay Baruchel.

Villeneuve last year won the Toronto Film Critics Association’s best Canadan film award for Polytechnique.

Toronto film critics in December named The Social Network as its best picture of the year, and gave five awards in all to the Facebook drama, including the directing prize to the film’s David Fincher, and the best screenplay award for Aaron Sorkin.
