Toronto: France's ARP Picks Up 'In The Crosswind'
The drama from Estonian director Martti Heide will premiere in TIFF's Contemporary World Cinema section
French distributor ARP has picked up the Estonian drama In The Crosswind from director Martti Helde ahead of the film's international premiere at TIFF's Contemporary World Cinema section.
The black-and-white drama, which Germany's Deckert Distribution is selling in Toronto, is based on the found diary of Erna, a victim of Stalin's mass deportations to Siberia in 1941. It is Helde's feature film debut.
ARP’s Michele Halberstadt and Laurent Petin, who negotiated the deal, called the movie “a gem of a film (that) shows a very strong and vibrant new voice.”
In The Crossroads will have its international premiere in the Toronto International Film Festival's Contemporary World Cinema section on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
