Sparkle Roll Media, the sales arm of Jackie Chan's global film and TV company, has secured more distribution deals in Asia for A Better Tomorrow 4, the remake of John Woo’s classic of the same title.
As the Toronto International Film Festival kicked into gear on Saturday, deals for Taiwan with Deepjoy Picture Corporation, the Philippines with ABS-CBN Corporation, India and subcontinent with Viswass Films and with Vietnam's Beta Media JSC were unveiled.
A Better Tomorrow 4, directed by Deng Sheng, is currently in postproduction and set for a year-end release.
Sparkle Roll announced earlier deals in Cannes with South Korea (Kidarient Corp) and Singapore (Clover Film) after showing promo footage of the movie. A Better Tomorrow 4 co-stars Wang Kai (Railroad Tigers), Ray Ma (Ice Fantasy) and Talu Wang (Railroad Tigers, Our Times).
The film follows the journey of a former smuggler attempting to start his life anew and repair his relationship with his estranged brother after his release from prison. A gangland betrayal, a botched drug deal and a devastating family tragedy all lead to an emotional climax.
A Better Tomorrow 4 was produced by Beijing Jingxi Culture & Tourism Co.
